شعار Vowcher

Terms of Service

Effective 8 September 2026

These terms cover buying a book of promises, giving it to someone, and redeeming one of the cards inside. They are written to be read, so they are shorter and plainer than most.

  1. Who we are, and what you are agreeing to

Vowcher ("we", "us") sells books of printed promises at vowcher.gifts. By using the site or placing an order you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in. Where those rights conflict with anything written here, those rights win.

  2. What a Vowcher is, and what it is not

A Vowcher is a printed card carrying a promise of time: an afternoon baking, a night under the stars, a trip with no map. Twelve of them are bound into a book. The promise is made by the person who gives the book, to the person who receives it.

A Vowcher is not a gift card, a store credit, a stored-value instrument or money of any kind. It cannot be exchanged for cash and it has no monetary face value. What you pay for is the printed book and the service that supports it.

We do not perform the promises. The person who gives the book does. Our part is to print it, deliver it, and pass the request along when the recipient asks to redeem one.

  3. Who can order

You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding contract. If you are buying on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are authorised to do so.

  4. Building a book, and the words you write

You choose twelve promises and may add your own line to each explaining why. You are responsible for what you write. Do not submit anything unlawful, hateful, threatening, or that infringes somebody else's rights.

You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us only the licence we need to print it on your card, produce your book and fulfil your order. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not publish it.

We may decline to print content that breaks these terms. If we do, we will tell you and refund you in full.

  5. The recipient's contact details

You may give us a phone number or email address so the recipient can be reached about their book. By giving it to us you confirm you have that person's permission to share it, and that you have told them they will hear from us about this gift.

We use those details only to deliver the gift and to pass along redemption requests. We do not add recipients to marketing lists.

  6. Prices and payment

Prices are shown on the site before you pay and are charged in the currency displayed at checkout. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Delivery is calculated separately and shown before you confirm.

Payment is taken when you place the order. If a price is obviously wrong (a listing error) we will contact you before charging you, and you may cancel.

  7. Printing, delivery, and things that go wrong in transit

Books are printed to order. We will give an estimated dispatch time at checkout; delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees.

If your book arrives damaged, misprinted, incomplete, or does not arrive at all, tell us within 30 days of the delivery date and we will reprint it or refund it. That is in addition to your legal rights, not instead of them.

  8. Cancelling, and returning a personalised book

You may cancel and receive a full refund at any time before your book goes to print. Write to us as soon as you can and we will stop it if we still can.

Once a book has been printed with your chosen promises and your own words, it is made to your specification and cannot be resold. For that reason we cannot accept a return simply because you changed your mind. This does not affect the reprint and refund rights in the previous section, and it does not apply if the book is faulty.

If you are in the EU or the UK: the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised, which is what a printed book of your own promises is. Your rights for faulty or misdescribed goods are unaffected.

  9. How long a promise lasts

A Vowcher does not expire on our side. The card stays valid and the redemption page keeps working for as long as we operate the service.

If we ever have to stop running redemption, we will give at least 90 days' notice on the site and by email to the address on the order.

A promise still depends on two people finding the time. Our part is keeping the card working; the rest is between you.

  10. Redeeming, and promises that are not kept

The recipient scans or visits the address on the card and asks to redeem it. We pass the request to the giver. We do not set the date, attend the day, or supervise it.

We are not responsible for a promise the giver does not keep. A promise between two people is not a contract with us, and we cannot enforce one. If a promise goes unkept, we cannot refund the book on that basis, because what you bought (the printed book and the service around it) was delivered.

If a disagreement between a giver and a recipient reaches us, we may pass messages between you, but we will not take sides and we are not an arbitrator.

Some promises describe activities with real risk. Anyone taking part does so at their own risk, and is responsible for their own safety, supervision of children, insurance, and any bookings or costs involved. We neither provide nor vet those activities.

  11. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

  12. Our content

The Vowcher name, wordmark, card designs, illustrations, photography and site content belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy or reuse them commercially without our written permission. Buying a book does not transfer any of those rights.

  13. What we do not promise

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and catalogue descriptions are illustrative.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

  14. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and the courts of Los Angeles County have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, that choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.

  15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date above always shows the current version, and the terms that apply to your order are the ones published when you placed it. Material changes will be announced on the site.
